- Main sources of GHG emissions within DCG Systems are:
- Office energy usage;
- Air conditioning and heating systems usage;
- Travel energy usage and emissions
- Items 1 and 2 are monitored by the Facilities Manager
- Item 3 is monitored by Finance through travel management
- Facilities manager monitors energy usage by comparing energy usage to prior year
- Facilities manager monitors electricity usage per employee on a quarterly basis and compares to prior year usage for the same period
- Facilities manager reports quarterly on result
- Facilities manager measures HVAC usage per quarter and sets thermostats at levels recommended by outside experts
- Facilities manager uses most energy efficient materials in tenant improvements when there is little cost differential
- Management expects at least a ½% improvement year on year
- In electricity usage per employee
- In electricity usage for HVAC per employee
- Finance manager sets travel management goals for reducing energy usage and emissions
- When traveling, policy is to use the most energy efficient method that meets cost and time of travel requirements
- Traveling employees are asked to use hotel room thermostat settings recommended by outside experts
- Employees are urged to use the most energy efficient method to go to and from work. Examples would be:
- Using public transportation when practical
- Using energy efficient vehicles
- Bicycling to work when practical
- Company from time to time provides incentives for employees to use efficient means of transportation
- Achievements against goals are disclosed at Company All-Hands meetings at least once per year
- DCG encourages its vendors to conform with this or a similar policy
