Mechanical Engineer

Summary
The Mechanical Engineer position resides in the product development group. The ME is primarily focused on supporting the development effort through mechanical design, documentation, and hands on production of prototypes and systems. This position works closely with the product development team, operations, and the chief technologist. The ME is a highly motivated technical person with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities and reports directly to the Product Development Manager.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical lead for all new product development
- Design parts and complex assemblies for the entire product line using Solid Works
- Manage the CAD database of files using PDM Works
- Assemble prototypes and assist manufacturing in build
- Manage Site Survey Data including possible customer site visits
- Customer site install requirements and planning including all specifications and facilities
- Work with Technical Support to troubleshoot problems
- Work with Product Development to test tool performance prior to shipment
Technical Skills
Required:
- Very strong problem solver
- Fluency in English: reading, writing and speaking
- Design for manufacturability
- Proficiency in 3D Modeling
- Experience in Solid Works or comparable software
- Experience in managing CAD files and directories
- Excellent technical communication skills – both writing and speaking
- Basic skill level using the full Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to quickly learn new technical concepts
- Exercise reasonable judgment (without supervision)
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Self-starter and team player
Preferred:
- 0 – 5 years experience in a mechanical design and hands on environment
- Experience in designing small, intricate parts
- Experience working with piezo technology
- Work experience at a semiconductor equipment supplier
- Experience in static or dynamic analysis of systems with Cosmos Works
- Scanning Electron Microscope operation
- Vacuum experience
- Stage design and motion control
- Experience in and around a machine shop
Education/Experience (required)
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
Working Conditions
- Will work indoors, primarily at a desk, operating analytical equipment, and in the lab
- Must have the ability to ambulate to various parts of the building
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment
- Travel up to 10%
