Product Applications Engineer

Summary

Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic company. DCG is a growing maker of Semiconductor test equipment with IPO potential. The nanoInstruments Division provides complete analytical tool solutions to the failure analysis and yield analysis groups in this industry.  This product division is focused on designing, building, and selling nanomanipulation / nanoprobing systems that are used in conjunction with a scanning electron microscope (SEM).  The product line ranges from a 4 positioner accessory nanoprober to an 8 positioner , semi-automated  nanoprobing system which includes and is  completely integrated with a SEM.  These nanoInstruments systems can be found in the labs of nearly all semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.  The division is looking for an experienced Product Applications.  The Product Applications Engineer is a member of the Product Marketing Group and is primarily focused on supporting the sales effort by operating the company’s nanoprobing products both in the factory and in the field.  This is a highly technical and hands on position.  This position works closely with the product development team, manufacturing operations, and the chief technologist.  Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated technical person with the ability to interface with customers, and has a passion for hands on work in a fast paced environment.  This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities and reports directly to the Product Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Customer demos
  • Customer installs and training
  • Diagnose, repair, and improve tool performance in the factory and in the field
  • Understand and develop new applications and techniques
  • Work with Product Development to test tool performance prior to customer shipment
  • Technical sales calls and presentations, in tandem with sales visits or on their own
  • Write application notes and technical notes
  • Generate content for use as marketing material

Skills

  • 0 – 5 years experience in a characterization or FA lab or as an application engineer working hands on with instrumentationVery strong problem solver
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical concepts
  • Operated a SEM desirable, a plus if operated with nanoprober
  • Experience with electrical test equipment or related instrumentation
  • Operated and serviced advanced instrumentation tools

Performance Skills

  • Fluency in English: reading, writing and speaking
  • Excellent technical communication skills – both writing and speaking
  • Basic skill level using the full Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exercise reasonable judgment (without supervision)
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Self-starter and team player

Education

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field from an accredited university required
  • MS or PhD Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field from an accredited university desired

Additional Information

  • Will work indoors, primarily at a desk, on a tool, and in the lab
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment
  • Domestic and International travel up to 50%, must have valid passport or be able to get one
  • Must be able to easily obtain a travel visa for Taiwan, China, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Germany, France, and Italy
